Healthy Foods for Snacks and Meals

If you are the kind of person who likes to snack after getting home from work or school, read the nutrition facts on the side of your favorite bag of chips.

You will probably see that one serving (the equivalent of about 10 chips) may contain 8-10 grams of fat (10 percent of which is saturated fat), and 200 milligrams of sodium. This is not healthy.

Instead of reaching for these high fat, high sodium, empty calorie snacks, try the ones listed below. If you want to extend your choices of healthy foods throughout your diet, the snacks are followed by a list of healthy food alternatives.
